Agreement signed for residential and catering services

The 2019 Universiade Regional Agency, the University of Salerno and the Campania Region’s ADISU signed the agreement for the management of accommodation and catering services on the occasion of the great university sports event next July.

The agreement signed today at the Fisciano Campus by the 2019 Universiade Commissioner Gianluca Basile, the Rector of the University of Salerno Aurelio Tommasetti and the President ADISURC Domenico Apicella foresees that all the students awarded the scholarship a.a. 2018-19, as out-of-town students and currently resident in the university buildings of the Fisciano, Penta (lot I and lot II) and Baronissi campuses, the continuity of the stay at the housing facilities of lot I of the Campus will be guaranteed of Fisciano and at the residences of Baronissi.

The agreement still provides that all students with disabilities will be guaranteed permanence in the current housing situation, just as foreign students attending the University, by virtue of international agreements with their universities of reference, will be guaranteed a stay at the university residences of Baronissi, Palazzo Barra di Fisciano (about 80%), as well as at other residential facilities identified by the University with appropriate procedures.

With reference to the catering service, the agreement guarantees the service to all students also through a strengthening of seats in the current canteen of the Fisciano Campus, currently involved in extraordinary maintenance works.

The Rector of the University of Salerno Aurelio Tommasetti said: “With the unanimity of all the university members, and above all with the favorable opinion of our students, we have signed this agreement that enhances the community spirit of our University. We will have an athletes’ village inside the campus, with students from many foreign universities and we will host fencing in the three new sports halls we are building in Baronissi. Precisely the prediction of this UNISA-ADISURC Village has allowed the remaking of the UNISA Stadium “Pasquale Vittoria” in Fisciano and the redevelopment of the sports field of Mercato S. Severino, as structures to devote to the training of the discipline of football for the Universiade “.

The agreement was reached with the collaboration of the dedicated “Commission for the identification of alternative structures for the 2019 Universiade”, composed of the student representatives in the Board of Directors and the Academic Senate (Umberto D’Avino, Umberto Di Benedetto, Luca Esposito, Giovanni Falcone) and the student representative on the Board of Directors of ADISURC (Mario Passaro).

Commissioner Gianluca Basile, in expressing full satisfaction with the agreement reached, underlines “the importance of the right to education thus guaranteed to students”. “It is an international event – says Basile – that will surely give luster to the University of Salerno, favoring growth opportunities for the University and for the territory”.

The president of the ADISURC (Regional Company for the Right to University Study), prof. Domenico Apicella: “We have confirmed our commitments for the realization of an international event, a sporting event that can offer young people from Campania the chance to meet thousands of students from all over the world and enrich their cultural education. We are also proud of being able to guarantee the right to residential and catering services to our students. I thank the student representatives for their contribution in identifying the best solutions. Sport, once again, proves to be a powerful element of cohesion ”.
