UNISA for Summer Universiade 2019

UNISA, the University of Fencing Competitions

The journey inside the 2019 Universiade officially starts today, Wednesday 3 July, inside the halls of the Baronissi campus that will host the fencing competitions and training sessions.

With a program of around 1000 athletes, Fencing is one of the symbolic sports of the summer Universiade, as well as a springboard for the participants for the world championships in the discipline and the Olympics. The UNISA Sport Village from July 3rd, the day dedicated to the control of competition weapons and until July 9th, the final day of the competitions, will turn into a stage of jabs, thrusts, parades and answers. The competitions will take place in the Palaunisa A, B and C, according to the following order: the PALAUNISA B and C will host the training sessions and the preliminary stages, while the PALAUNISA A will host the semi-finals and the competition finals. The young university fencers from 45 nations will be on the strips and will compete in around 75 bouts every day starting at 9.00 am, until the Award Ceremony on July 9, 6.00 pm.
